Minimal rubber thickness in the outsole and soft TPU midsole maximizes the “foot feel” and flexibility, enhancing natural movement. Machine washable. Air dry.

Materials:
UPPER- Mesh (polyester) + Microfabric (50% PU + 50% nylon)
SOLE- LS Vibram TC-1 Dura Rubber

Seeya ls

The SeeYa LS shoes are one of the lightest, most flexible pair of Vibrams you could wear. The SeeYa Ls took what was great with the SeeYa and improved on it. One of the improvements was that they used the laces to offer better adjustabilty.
The SeeYa Ls shoes are super light and this was accomplished by having a very thin upper. You will also find the inner of the shoe is rather bare and not as comfortable as others. A lot of people complain about the lack of padding around the ankles in the SeeYa compared to other Vibrams.

If your looking for a true minimal pair of Vibrams the SeeYa Ls is for you.

Vibram FiveFingers Speed XC

vibram speed xc
Here's a quick review of the Vibram Five Fingers Speed XC that has been out for alittle bite now. The VFF Speed has always been my favorite VFF shoe and the XC looks like it won't let me down.

Here is what the Vibram Website says about the Speed XC:

The elements are no match for the Speed XC. The multi-layer laminate upper with fully taped seams provides insulation and water resistance for trail running and walking adventures. A 4mm EVA midsole offers plating protection from stone bruising, and a lightly cleated 4mm Vibram TC-1 Dura outsole delivers increased traction on a variety of surfaces. There’s a traditional lacing system designed for easy entry, gusseted tongue to prevent water penetration, and seamless polyester lining to keep the outdoor enthusiast comfortable and dry. Machine washable. Air dry.

Vibram Five Fingers Speed XC
Materials:
UPPER- Laminated Stretch Mesh + Water Resistant Membrane
SOLE- Vibram TC-1 Dura + EVA Midsole
FOOTBED - Polyester Mesh
Machine Washable. Air Dry.

Weight:
Men's size 43 - 5.47oz. each, 10.94oz./pair

Price: $140

The Speed XC is the new kid on the block in Vibrams line of casual Five Fingers. The Speed XC in anything but casual in my opinion though.

Vibram claims that the Speed XC is a water-resistant shoe that can be used in any situation. The reason that I have always loved the Speed is because of its great retro looks. The Speed XC still looks great and is designed to be more versatile.

The Upper:
The upper on the Speed XC is multi-layered construction that uses a water-resistant membrane with a Laminated Stretch Mesh to create the upper. The Upper is very flexible and feels roomy around your foot.
speed xc blue

The Sole:
The Speed XC has a Trek Vibram sole which is designed to be aggressive and alittle thicker then other soles in the Vibram line.

The Feel:
As I stated earlier the Speed XC is marketed as a casual pair of VFF's, to me it can't be casual once they added the Trek Sole, having the Trek sole will make it alittle less comfortable lounging around the house or kicking back at the park.
With the Speed being water-resistant and multi layers get ready for your Speed XC's to smell alittle more then your classic speeds.

Conclusion:

Overall the Speed XC is a great shoe, the only thing that I question about it is how it's marketed. I loved the VFF Speed because it was a awesome and stylish casual shoe. I believe that the Speed XC steps away from it's casual past and should be moved into the outdoor category.

    Vibram FiveFingers Speed XC

    speed xc
I was checking out the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Online checking out new shoes and came across the Vibram Booth. This show showcases new gear coming out in the future. Vibram had their press release that I was looking though and found the Vibram Five Fingers Speed XC. The speeds are my favorite VFF's and I look forward to see if Vibram made the Speeds better.

This is from the Vibram Press release: Two warmer versions of the retro styled Speed, a model designed for casual use, will also be introduced this fall. The Speed XC combines the look and comfort of the Speed with Vibram performance. A multi‐layer water resistant laminate upper with fully taped seams provides insulation and water resistance.

    Vibram Five Fingers SeeYa Review

Vibram Five Fingers have come a long way over the last couple years, When I bought my first pair of Vibram Five Fingers KSO I had to buy them online and there was not a lot of selection, now Vibram has about 15+ different types of Five Fingers and one of their newer styles is the Seeya.
The Seeya is designed to be a road running shoe. Unlike the Bikila that is a road running shoe that can be used in all other situations the Seeya is best suited to stay on pavement,
Here's what the Vibram Website say's about the Seeya.
The ultra-streamlined SeeYa is our newest performance option for serious minimalist runners. Designed to bring you even closer to the barefoot sensation, we’ve radically reduced overall weight and material with a more breathable mesh upper to deliver true, performance-driven footwear. Minimum rubber thickness in the outsole maximizes “foot feel” and flexibility, while a soft TPU midsole further reduces thickness and weight for natural movement. A stitched-in polyurethane insole protects skin and foot tissue during longer runs. For a snug fit, the lightweight, single-layer, stretch mesh upper has an adjustable hook-and-loop closure. 3M reflective applications for night running. Machine Washable. Air Dry.
    Vibram Seeya review

The Seeya will feel more minimal compared to other Five Fingers, they are a thinner, lighter, more flexible pair of KSO's.

The Sole of  the Seeya is made out of TC1 rubber that you already find in Sprints,KSO's and other shoes. The Sole is somewhat divided into two parts with the heel and forefoot being separated by a plastic type of material.

    vibram five fingers seeya
The footbed is 3mm's of antimicrobial dri-lex polyurethane.

The Upper of the Seeya is more sock like then many other VFF's, it is made up of stretchy mesh with a tradition strap across the top. The Mesh makes the Seeya very breathable and will dry out quickly once running through a puddle.

The Seeya is super lightweight coming in at around 3.70-5.0 oz depending on the size, it is the lightest VFF on the market right now and it will be harder to make one lighter.

    Conclusion:

If your looking for a very minimal pair of shoes for road running, the Seeya is your shoe. But if you are looking to have a all around pair of barefoot shoes well you may want to pass of the Seeya as it doesn't perform that great cross-training or on the trails. If your looking for a pair of shoes that will catch someone's eye again the Seeya is for you.

    Vibram Five Fingers On Survivor

I'm sitting here watching the premiere of Survivor One World. I haven't watched Survivor in years but their advertising worked, I saw all the ads promoting this years Survivor and it tempted me to watch.

The big "new" thing this year is that both teams are on the same beach camping.

I was watching Survivor and to my surprise I saw at least two contestants wearing a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I was only able to see flashes of them but I think they were Pink Bikilas and a pair of Komodo Sports.

    Vibram Five Fingers Spyridon LS

Just when you thought that Vibram couldn't come out with any cooler Five Fingers they plan to launch the Spyridon LS in 2012. The Spyridon LS is designed as a trail runner which features a slightly beefier sole. The Spyridon LS offers laces, but there's rumours that there will be a non "LS" shoe without laces. I love the look of the Spyridon LS.

The Sole appears to have an aggressive grip and is said to have metal fibers in the sole to offer more protection. The shoe appears to have some mesh for a little more breathable, and a nice lip around your ankle for comfort.

Runners World: Brand Editor Warren Greene says: "A trail five fingers with metal fibers in the rubber for protection. Looked cool because natural off road is about as natural as you can get. As always, start slow."

    Vibram Five Fingers Bormio Review

Vibram Five Fingers have released some of their new fall line of casual shoes.  Are you looking for a pair of dress toe shoes for work? If so these are the shoes for you.

From the Vibram Five Fingers Website:

Clean lines and premium materials make the men's Bormio boot a great fall casual. Built on a traditional FiveFingers Trek platform, the men's Bormio boot features a fully lined kangaroo upper and rugged EVA and performance rubber sole. Side-zip closures complete the design and make for easy on-and-off.

I have not put on a pair of the new Five Fingers Bormio so until I do give you the best review I can.  The Vibram Five Fingers Bormio comes in two colors brown and black ( Whiskey Crazyhorse and Black Crazyhorse) which are made from lined kangaroo leather that comes up past your ankle, and as you can see in the photo below they have a side zipper.

If your not looking at the front of the Bormio you would think that it's any other boot, a nice soft leather that will go nicely with your dress clothes. But I'm sure you co-workers will be all a buzz when you walk into the office wearing these.

The Bormio offers one of the  thickest soles in there product line at 10mm, but you'll still have your zero drop heel.  The Sole also is the Trek sole which offers plenty of grip. To be honest I think that vibram could have gone with a different sole from there line-up as I see this as a primary casual shoe.

There hasn't been a Vibram Five Finger shoe on the market in the past that had a zipper on it, with a boot that passes the ankle it is the only way that this design would work. Also the Bormio also offers a lined boot that will make it more comfortable in the cooler months.

Even with the Lined side of the boots I think this boot would be prefect to use a pair on injinji socks to help keep down the smell from sweat since these will be a casual boot.

To wrap this up I think Vibram has done a great job with the Bormio, it's not too flashy that it can pass as a great casual boot, it looks pretty shape with dress clothes. But these boots are not for everyone, if you don't want to be the talk around the water cooler these are not for you and with the price at $160.00 they are very costly to be bought and worn here and there.

Can't wait till they come this Fall

    Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas

Yesterday was the first nice day on the East Coast in a while, so a group of us took the opportunity to enjoy the sun and went to the coast line.

As I opened the closet to choice my footwear, my Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas were staring up at me. Where we were going the trail would be a little wet and the trail would be technical, so the Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas would be a great choice.

We headed out the trail and I was impressed, not really surprised how great the Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas performed on the rocky trail.

As I jumped from rock to rock along the shore, never did I question my footing and never did I slip. The Bikilas have great grip and the Vibram Five Finger soles (all their shoes) are great for rocks.

As everyone else avoided the puddles I just walked right through them, I love how quickly the Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas drain out, your feet are wet for a second then you don't even notice it.

    YouTube Video

I guess if there's any downside to a hike like this is the drive home, with the Bikilas getting wet and sweaty, they tend to smell a little funky, they went right in the washer!

I love my Vibram Five Fingers Bikilas

    Komodo Sport Review

I love shoes, and I love all Vibram Five Fingers but one of the new shoes really impressed us and set the standard high for any brand looking to make barefoot or minimalist footwear -and that’s the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport.

Instantly comfortable, effortless to slip on and pretty much everything you could ever wish for in a barefoot running shoe. But will barefoot purists approve of its cushioned insole? Read our in depth review of the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport and see for yourself.

    Technical Specs
    -aggressive multisport design
    -stretch nylon upper
    -heel and instep hook-and-loop closure
-stitch free, seamless 2mm PU footbed to reduce friction
    -EVA arch support
-individual toe pockets seperate and strengthen toes
-4mm vibram performance rubber outsole for grip and protection

    Looks
When it comes to appearance the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport looks every bit the technical sports performance shoe that it is. Borrowing design elements from the KSO and Bikila before restyling them into something sleeker and far more aggressive, these Five Fingers are covered in eye catching details. The Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport comes in a choice of black/bronze, black/grey and yellow/black colours for men. Meanwhile for women, there’s a choice of black/bronze and blue/yellow. The blue/yellow looks surprisingly good too. After all, if you’re going to wear unusual shoes, you may as well be bold about it!

    Fit
Effortlessly easy to slip on just like the Bikila, your feet slide straight into the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport and your toes easily find the right place while providing plenty of room to wiggle, and without slipping out.

Pull the heel and instep straps to whatever tightness you prefer, stick then in place with the Velcro underside and you’re good to go.

The Komodo Sport fits very comfortably around the heel and ankle. Once again, by raising the cuff, the newer range fo Vibrams don’t pull on the toes and instead forms a strong, secure and snug hold around the ankle.

    Feel
Even though there’s soft footbed and extra cushioning and grip across the full length of the foot, there’s still a lot of feeling in your feet. Walking or running, you still get a fully detailed feel, especially in the toes which have a lot of freedom to wiggle. The great thing about the Komodo Sport is all the extra cushioning. You could walk, but not run, in these heel striking all the way and it wouldn’t bother you. While that goes against the whole point of barefoot shoes, it’s a lot more forgiving when you do forget your gait and smash your heel into the tarmac. As Vibram’s Five Fingers line develops, it seems to be more about providing protection and support for your barefoot training rather than punishing you for getting it wrong.

One thing that’s really interesting is the sole, because there’s a huge chunk missing from the inside of the midfoot. Instead is a peice of tough, connective rubber, presumably to hold the shoe together and provide a bit of protection from whatever’s on the ground. But this part of the shoe is never used by your foot to make contact with the ground. That makes quite a big saving on weight, which explains how the Komodo Sport is so lightweight despire all the extra material, padding and straps.

Although there’s plenty of breathability, they are quite warm. This won’t bother you when you’re running about, playing basket ball or whatever, but for casual wear it’s quite noticeable. However, the irresistably cosy fit more than makes up for this. Plus you can comfortably wear them during the colder times of the year without a care.

    What We’d Use Them For
We have to agree with Vibram that their Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport is designed for running and fitness, but its perfectly suited to all kinds of sports as well as casual wear. Something this comfortable shouldn’t be worn just for sports. If it wasn’t for the footbed, then you could wear these watersports just like regular KSOs.

Blended together from the KSO and Bikila, the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport is the perfect shoe for the core barefoot demographic. It’s great for running, walking and sports in general while being comfortable, supportive and stylish.

Will there be a backlash from barefoot purists over the soft footbed? Some won’t like it, but others will appreciate that your feet won’t need to ache quite so much from going ‘minimalist’ with their footwear.

    Final Thoughts
You certainly get what you pay for with the Komodo Sport, even if you do pay a lot for it. We expect this to become the mostly highly sought after Vibram Five Finger shoe simply because it’s got everything. You can do virtually anything in it and go anywhere.

It’s a huge leap forward from the original Vibram Five Fingers Classic, combining the features of the two best selling ‘advanced’ Vibram Five Finger styles, taking the comfort, fit and protection of the KSO and combining it with a sole a toe fit that’s similar to the Bikilas.

Like with the rest of the new 2011 Five Fingers range, Vibram has paid attention to the heel area, providing more cushioning for any barefoot gait slip ups as well as more padding around the heel area of the foot itself for a more comfortable fit.

If you’re trying barefoot for the first time and you’ve got money to burn, get yourself a pair of these. They may be very technical, but they’re still perfect for an entry level barefooter. But we can safely assume that most will progress up to them from the standard Vibram Five Fingers Classic.

So, to round up: Unless you’re going off road in serious mud and filth or doing water sports (in which case you’d want the Treksport or KSO), the Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport is the best Five Finger shoe for running, walking, sports, comfort, fit and style. That’s right, THE BEST.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Vibram Five Fingers reviews.

    Vibram Five Finger Customer Service

We all know that Vibram 5 Fingers shoes are the greatest invention since... well, shoes. Reader Mark agrees, and when his pair developed burst seams and some other holes, he was unhappy. He would miss his unbelievably dorky-looking but comfortable shoes. So he did the only logical thing: he posted a photo essay online of the wonderful times that he and his shoes had together, and sent a link to Vibram USA.

We included only two of the photos from this open letter. Go visit Mark's site to see the rest.

Back in September 2010, I purchased my first pair of Vibram Five Fingers.

And I loved them. I ran in them and walked in them. Heady times my friends, heady times

But now, just a few months later, my Five Fingers (that made me so happy), are starting to fall apart.

I love my Five Fingers and I tell everyone I know how much I love them.

But when I look down at those holes and burst seams, I look like this.

Please Vibram, won't you help me turn back into the jaunty fellow in the Chewbacca shirt I once was.

    Thanks!
    Mark

So sad. Vibram USA thought so, too, and answered Mark's plea within only a few hours.
